We founded this website, because up till now there is a low supply regarding socially acceptable bondage. Many people establish an SM context rather too quickly, because that does not always have to be the case. Bondage can also be an art ("Rope Art") ranging from creative to acrobatic and even sensual.
Furthermore, bondage can be a kind of "partner-yoga with ropes", requiring neither sexual nor any other intimate contact. It works as well as other hobbies or sports on the level of a friendship.
Shibari is the traditional Japanese way of (sometimes very artistical) rigging. It usually consists of one person in the active role, usually referred to as the "rigger" and a passive part, that we like to refer to as "riggee" (Some use "bunny", but that is not the best term). There are many reasons people enjoy playing with ropes, we will address some of those later on.
This kind of rigging derives from Japan and was, first of all, a purely functional ability to transport captives known as Hojojutsu. Over the course of a few hundred years it developed into the art form it is today.
Everybody can decide for themselves, really. As already mentioned earlier, there is rigging on a friendship level, where you would be likely to still wear clothes. A casual, skin tight outfit would be advantageous. However, many like the feel of the rope better on their skin than through fabric. Therefore, advanced practitioners, even on a friendship level, like to be topless or at least lightly dressed (although you should avoid that outdoors, having the passers-by best interest at heart). The basic rule still applies: start slowly and carefully and increment over time. There should be no pressure.
We are a ragtag group based in Berlin, 18 years old and above. We rig in Dojos, Yoga like locations or in our living rooms. On nice summer days you can even find us outdoors on meadows, under trees or in parks. Our mission is to make rigging more accepted as an acrobatic sport or a pleasant experience among friends. It is up to you if you want to make more out of it with your partner in life. But nonetheless there is a lot discover and to experience – even on the level of a friendship.
